Presentation Room of the Nature Center
Presentation Room of the Nature CenterThe Presentation Room of the Nature Center at Heckrodt Wetland Reserve provides a great location for training sessions and workshops, meetings, and family events. The Presentation Room of the Nature Center is available for public rental during our regular operating hours — there is no evening rental.
Maximum occupancy of the room is 54 people. Rental provides access to the kitchen for potluck or catering. The Nature Center is heated and air-conditioned. The room has a projection wall for presentations with a podium and microphone available at no cost. Special rates are available to registered nonprofit organizations.
Expect a level of noise consistent with regular Nature Center operations during any rental — large education groups, families with excited children, etc.
Renters are expected to clean up after their rental or deposit fees will be retained.
Children with your rental must be supervised by adults at all times.

Picnic Pavilion and Outbuildings
Our outbuildings and picnic pavilion at Lopas Learning Center are for the Reserve’s program use only and are not available for rent. Group use of our picnic pavilion is not permitted unless you have scheduled a program with our naturalists (school, daycare, etc). Families casually visiting the Nature Center are welcome to use the picnic pavilion, provided no Heckrodt Wetland Reserve programming is using it. Stop by the Nature Center to inquire about availability. People using the picnic areas on the Reserve must carry out their trash. The picnic area at the Wild Space and in various other areas on the Reserve are available for public use. Heckrodt does not reserve these tables. First come, first served.
Policies and Cancellations:
During winter, please be aware the Reserve closes when our local schools have canceled classes; any scheduled rentals during these times will also be canceled. Weekend closures will be at the discretion of the Executive Director with a decision made by the Friday before. In the event of a weather-related closure, full refunds of rental fees will be made.
The Nature Center may also be closed without notice if COVID-related illness resurges. Fees for rental will be fully reimbursed.
