Heckrodt Conservation Crew -2026

Have a high school student who needs service hours? Or a student who loves the outdoors?  Do they want to get natural resource experience?

Join the Heckrodt Conservation Crew!

Heckrodt has a service summer camp called the Heckrodt Conservation Crew (HCC). The HCC service camp runs from July 14th – 24th, Tuesday – Friday. You can volunteer for a morning session (9:00-11:30 am) or afternoon session (12:00-2:30 pm) or all day.

There is no minimum hour requirement for service, and volunteers have the flexibility to choose the number of days to volunteer. Youth volunteers must establish a regular schedule as no walk-ins are accepted. The HCC is designed for students going into freshman year until senior of high school.

The Conservation Crew is part of the Environmental Youth Enrichment Program. This program not only allows students to earn their volunteer service hours for schools. It inspires and cultivates the next generation of leaders who will have opportunities to build their skills, confidence and knowledge as well as impact the Reserve and make a difference in the community. Through this program students will:

  • Participate in conservation tasks such as invasive plant removal, habitat restoration, trail maintenance, and general support at the Wild Space & Nature Center
  • Design and lead a community program that falls within the pillars of education at the Reserve
  • Assist with our water quality monitoring program. They will analyze water samples and collect data for our annual Heckrodt Water Report

To register for a spot in the camp fill out the form below. Spots are limited!
